DOCUMENTARY FILM
Federal Brace: History Preservation
Federal Brace wanted to create a short film to promote their work of preserving history by restoring the textile mills of Gaston County, NC. Federal Brace, along with Chronicle Millworks, have been working together to preserve these old buildings by refurbishing and repurposing them for use as commercial and residential spaces. The two companies also salvage materials taken from the mills to create custom pieces of furniture. The film illustrates the role that the textile mills had in helping develop and grow this region of North Carolina. The film also focuses on the local community and those who worked in the mills. I handled all filming and editing for this piece. I also conducted interviews and collected all of the images seen in the film from a local pictorial museum. Not only was the video successful in promoting Federal Brace’s products, but also in displaying the work they were involved in at the local mills. The response from the community of Gaston County about the film was overwhelmingly positive. I used Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects to edit the film and used a Nikon d3200 to film it.
