Power Distribution Using Block Chain
Argonne National Laboratory
This info graphic explains the idea of using an specific algorithm and block chain computing to efficiently distribute energy to a set of buildings. Each building in the system records the amount of energy it is using, and sends that data in real time to an aggregate. This central hub takes all of the data that is being sent from all of the buildings in the system and inputs it into the algorithm and builds a block to add to the chain. The aggregate then uses this outcome to determine how much energy each building needs at any given time. If there is a spike in activity in one area, the system can determine which buildings to lower the amount an energy being sent to them in order to send more to the one that needs it. This system will allow for more efficient energy consumption, and lower wasteful energy output.
I worked closely with the lead researcher in order to accurately depict this process.
